We held the final certification activity of the SOC Opatija program in implementing STEM activities in working with children with developmental disabilities within the “STEM Future for an A” project – a one-day event for children and parents.
Members of the “Hummingbirds” workshop/playroom and councilors of the 14th convocation of the Children’s City Council of the City of Opatija together with the educated STEM trainers of the Society “Our children” Opatija went through a series of STEM contents within the STEM corner of SOC Opatija.
Children had the opportunity to express themselves through movement using holograms and robots, sensory room activities, performing experiments, art and music activities with robots, sensory storytelling and voice articulation exercises with an assistive keyboard.
At the very beginning of the meeting, we were also greeted by Dino Žigulić, President of the City Council of the City of Opatija, and Snježana Krpes, Secretary of the Union of SOC Croatia.
STEM – the future for an A is a project that aims to popularize informatics, multimedia and robotics among children, and is implemented by the Union of Societies “Our Children” Croatia in partnership with the “Ruđer Bošković” Institute and the Faculty of Graphics in Zagreb, and in cooperation with 5 selected Societies “Our children” from all over Croatia, including us (Slatina, Jastrebarsko, Kutina, Ogulin and Opatija).
