The “Hummingbirds on a Square” program is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Labour, Pension System, Family and Social Policy. The aim of the program is to improve the quality of life of children with developmental disabilities and their families, and help with integration by encouraging new processes for the quality acceptance of children with disabilities and their integration in the Liburnian area and the Rijeka ring area. About sixty children with developmental disabilities, aged 2 to 15, from the area of Liburnia and the Rijeka Ring, and their parents are included in the program’s activities.
Activities included in the program are: creative workshops, thematic workshops for parents, workshops for group and individual stimulation of sensory integration, individual treatments providing psychosocial support to children, thematic lectures by experts for parents of children with developmental disabilities, “I can too!” – life- practical and work activities for children with disabilities, SOC Opatija corner in an online environment, “Together in action” – marking appropriate dates and involving children with disabilities and their parents in the activities of the local community, and a speech and language training room.
The activities foreseen in the program are carried out by the expert team of the Society “Our children” Opatija with external professional collaborators. The professional team consists of: educational rehabilitator, speech therapist, social pedagogue, pedagogue and educator.
