Our guest lecturers Ivana Borić, PhD., from the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Zagreb and Arijana Mataga Tintor , PhD., Advisor for Preschool Education, Children and Youth of the City of Velika Gorica, presented:
- Preliminary (first) results of the study “Participation of vulnerable groups of children” : why the study was conducted-goal and purpose is a comprehensive insight into the participation of children from vulnerable groups in Croatia, working methods were interviews based on vulnerability and participation of children with experts, scientists and representatives public bodies and authorities, a questionnaire on children’s rights and participation with citizens and professionals, case studies, the development of a guide for involving children and youth in research, a questionnaire is presented-quantitatively what citizens say (they are not familiar, the child’s image is positive , children are somewhat able to participate, more negative attitude towards children’s rights), children’s participation is important, but mostly adults decide, children living in alternative care have less choice and freedom compared to their peers, adults are mediators, motivators , but also prevent participation, adults believe that they need more education, conclusions (general picture (citizens of the Republic of Croatia) say that children’s rights are realized, but by focusing on everyday lives and problems that children face, they reveal a completely different picture, perhaps the participation and forms that adults offer and enable children are not enough, authentic and the kind of participation that children need and want ).
- A guide to participating in scientific research for children and young people – what is scientific research, how do we research in everyday life, why do we do scientific research, how to get involved in scientific research, and practical guidelines for involving young people in scientific research.
After presenting the results of the study “Participation of vulnerable groups of children” and the Guide for participation in scientific research for children and youth, NEF members had an agreement on the plan and work program for 2021.
