On October 11th, 2024, the Mića marunada (Little Chestnut fest) event was held in Lovrane, in which over 300 children participated.
Mića marunada is a traditional manifestation of the Society “Our Children” Opatija, which is carried out in cooperation with the Municipality of Lovran and TZ Lovran with children and for children.
The goal of the event is to nurture the traditions and customs of our region. Children from elementary schools Viktor Car Emin Lovran, “Rikard Katalinić Jeretov” Opatija, Adria International School Opatija and district schools “Eugen Kumičić”, PŠ Ičići and Veprinac participated in interactive workshops.
The topics of the workshops were: “Stories of our region”, “The story of Lovran’s water carriers”, “Our ča”, “Glagoljica in Lovran”, “Weave, weave a net and weave a knot”, “Threads that unite us – embroidery”, “Making of Lovran’s Košić/basket”, “Making of Lovran’s Guc/boat”, “Print of Autumn”, “Autumn of Wool”, “Boccia”, “Firefighters in Lovran”, “Eco Workshop” and “Games of Our Old Ones”.
A big thanks to the volunteers of the First Croatian High School in Rijeka who helped us implement the program, as well as all the workshop mentors and facilitators.
