The Society “Our children” Opatija, with the support of the Municipality of Lovran and the TZ of the Municipality of Lovran, held the “Mića marunada va Lovrane/Little chestnut fest in Lovran” event for the 17th year in a row, in which more than 300 children participated, students of the elementary schools Viktora Cara Emina Lovran, “Rikard Katalinić Jeretov” Opatija, district schools Ičići and Mošćenička Draga, and students of the Children’s Home of Ivana Brlić Mažuranić Lovran.
The children took part in the interactive workshops “Let’s get to know our region“: they played the games of our ancestors, played bocce, danced, fishhooked, learned to weave a fishing knot and net, made Lovran guc and Lovran basket, looked for stories of our region, painted Lovran with charcoal, held bucket races, taught our ČA dialect and to write the Glagolitic script, and much, much more.
The program was led by councilors of the 14th convocation of Children’s City Council of the City of Opatija, and the Lovran cherries, Mularija and accordion players also performed.
