Society “Our Children” Opatija is a non-governmental organization that designs and organizes free time for children of preschool and school age. The goals of the Society “Our Children” are the realization of the rights of the child and children’s participation, the organization of children’s leisure activities and assistance to parents and children in the development and upbringing of the child.

SOC Opatija’s mission is to strive for a better position of children in society and protection of children’s rights and equal opportunities for all children in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, empowering parents to raise children through education and promotion of responsible and quality parenting and nurturing tradition volunteering in SOC Opatija.

The values we nurture are: creativity, innovation, openness, participation, proactivity and promoting awareness of healthy living.

All our programs are verified by the Ministry of Education and the Agency for Education.

We offer children and parents: 5 free programs for parents (library, counseling, lectures, workshops, online activities with parents); 9 free programs for children (Traveling workshops SOC Opatija arrives to children,  Playroom/workshop Hummingbirds, Storytelling, Learning assistance,  Workshops on children’s rights and active children’s participation in primary schools, Workshops during winter and spring holidays, Children’s forum, Children’s city council of Opatija, Children’s counseling and parents “Friend”); Free online content for children (Virtual Storytelling and creative workshops).

The association is partly self-financed through 2 programs with the participation of parents (Children’s birthday celebrations and summer activities SOC Opatija).

Our sources of funding are: City of Opatija, the Municipality of Lovran, the County of Primorsko-goranska, Ministries, foundations, sponsors, membership fees, self-financing programs.

We are full members in 7 associations, coordinations and international NGO networks (Union of Societies “Our children” of Croatia; Eurochild organization; Child rights connect; Tapori; Coordination of associations for children; Netzkraft Movement network, Mediterranean Children’s Movement).

We are one of 40 civil society organizations, we make 3 bodies of state and local administration and self-government and 7 public institutions (ministries, primary schools).

The Society “Our Children” has 2 employees, 7 external associates and 30 volunteers.

The professional team consists of: Psychologist/ Educational rehabilitator/ Pedagogue /Preschool educators/Classroom teachers/Speech therapist/Social Pedagogue.
