On the occasion of International Volunteer Day Society “Our Children” Opatija has awarded its most valuable volunteers Andrea Sušanj, Anđela Pavlović and Ivan – Nino Kašić. During the year 2014, in the Society  „Our children“ Opatija have volunteered 38 persons, while in the year 2015, 43 of them. A small ceremony organized in the presence of members of the Children’s City Council, Society  „Our children“ and students and parents from workshop / play “Kolibrići”, was attended by representatives of the City of Opatija – deputy mayor Fernando Kirigin and head of the Department of Social Services Zlata Torbarina.

–  In every relation the most important thing is not what you get but what you give, and this award should be seen as an encouragement to continue to actively participate in your community. Dear Andrea and Angela and dear Nino, thank you for donating your time and kindness in building a more humane and happier world – representatives of Society  „Our children“ Opatija started their celebration. – Today we mark not only the International Volunteer Day, but also the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, and rewarded volunteers help in the integration of children with disabilities, and clearly let know that every child is the same, said Secretary of Society  „Our children“ Opatija Sanja Škorić.

At the ceremony on the occasion of International Volunteer Day, Hall Children’s City Council of the City of Opatija Hana Kulišić presented the Deputy Mayor Fernando Kirigin Medal for The best- action in the year 2015, awarded by the Central Coordinating Committee of the action “Cities and Municipalities – Friends of Children” for exemplary carried out the original action for children, conceived and organized by children and aimed for improving the lives of children in the local community. It is a charter assigned to the action, ” With suitcase around Europe about children’s rights”.
