Lovran

Municipality of Lovran was assigned in 2014. the prestige title ” Child Friendly City”, so now even ten local governments in The Primorje- Gorski Kotar County have status city/municipality child friendly city, the most of all croatian countys.

Assignment of that title took place during the annual consultation of coordinators of the action “Cities and Municipalities – Friends of Children”, held in the Old City Hall in Zagreb, regarding to 25 years of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and 15 years of action “Cities and Municipalities – Friends of Children”. This prestigious title is the most public social recognition to environments that are systematically concerned about protecting children and their rights and needs.

Municipality of Lovran voluntarily joined the Action in May 2002.

Action stagned to the 2008th when the decision was made to restart the Action ”Child Friendly City/Municipality” in order to implement the UN Convention on the Rigths of the Child in the daily lives of our children and and adult citizens of our municipality, and thereby increase the quality of children and youth in community.

Since then we have achieved:

·         Arranged playground at Zaheji- Lovran

·         Decorated pediatric clinic in Lovran

·         Ensured the budgetary funds for the work of the pediatrician

·         Arranged the first children’s beach

·         Ensured the budgetary funds for speech therapist for children with speech difficulties

·         Ensured the funds for social educator in the Primary school

·         Made registry for children with disabilities, for children with speech difficulties and for children with chronic diseases

·         Municipality has arranged access to the school and the road is marked with warnings for drivers near schools and kindergartens

·         Continuously provided funding for activities in school

·         Continuously co-financed the work of Kindergarten

·         Increased the number of student scholarships

·         Helping the children and families poorer financial status
